Since last night’s torrential rain, most areas of Dhaka city have been waterlogged. Continuous rainfall left knee to waist-deep water on several roads, causing severe suffering for the public.

The rain started at around 12am on Sunday and continued till 7am Monday. Waterlogging was seen on major roads in Mirpur, Motijheel, Arambagh, Rajarbagh, Moghbazar, Mouchak and parts of Hatirjheel, among other areas. Traffic movement has been disrupted due to waterlogging, leading to severe congestion in many places.

According to the Meteorological Department, 34 millimetres of rainfall were recorded in Dhaka from 12am Sunday to 6am today. It also said two low-pressure areas may form over the Bay of Bengal in the next two days—one within 24 hours and another around September 24.

As per the weather forecast, the sky may remain cloudy to overcast throughout today, while daytime temperature may drop slightly.
