We are taking steps on border security issue: Home Adviser

Home Affairs and Agriculture Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said, we are taking steps on the border security issue. The people are on our side. Our border is secure. Our blood will be shed, but the border will be secure. Still, we will not let anyone come here from the other side.

He said this in response to a question at the certificate distribution and closing ceremony of the 137th Survey and Settlement Training Course, 2024-25, for BCS cadre (Administration, Police, Forest and Railway) and Bangladesh Judicial Service officers on Sunday (January 19) afternoon.

Border security is being disrupted. When asked what kind of steps are being taken by the government, the Home Affairs Adviser said, earlier there were no steps regarding border security. Now because steps are being taken, problems are arising at the border. There are troubles at the border. The people are with us. BGB is always alert. The border is completely secure. No one from the other side will be able to come to this border. Blood will flow, but the border will be secure.

When asked about the situation arising from the infiltration, attacks, and cutting of paddy and trees by BSF and Indian citizens at the Chapainawabganj border, the Home Affairs Adviser said, the Chapainawabganj incident started with cutting of paddy and trees on the land. People from both sides were injured. We have not seen in our media that two of their BSF were injured. Nothing major happened. This has been resolved in BGB-BSF discussions.

He said, there are some places in the border area where there are some parties from the two countries who come and go. This problem exists, which will be resolved soon.
