Central President Rakibul Islam Rakib, Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal, has claimed that Awami League party offices across the country were set on fire during the July-August mass uprising. He also asserted that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Chhatra Dal, and Jubo Dal played a leading role in the movement to expel the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).

He made these claims while speaking at the "July National Convention-2026" held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center in Agargaon, the capital, to mark the anniversary of the July-August mass uprising, mourning, and victory on Saturday (July 4).

"We burned down Awami League party offices across the country. We set them on fire," Rakibul Islam Rakib said. "On August 4, Chhatra Dal, Jubo Dal, and BNP played a leading role in expelling the Chhatra League from all areas, including Jatrabari and Shahbagh."

At the same event, Abu Hossein, the elder brother of Abu Sayed—the first martyr of the July uprising—demanded the swift execution of the verdict in the Abu Sayed murder case. He also called for the rehabilitation of martyrs' families, proper assistance for the injured, preservation of July memories, and special initiatives to increase employment opportunities in the northern region.

"My younger brother Abu Sayed was a brilliant student of the English department at Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur," Abu Hossein said. "The scene of him being brutally shot to death was witnessed not only by the people of this country but by the entire world. His sacrifice inspired people to take to the streets against the then-government."

He further added, "Through a long series of movements and struggles, the autocratic government fell via the July-August mass uprising. However, many families lost their loved ones in this movement, and many have been permanently crippled."
