Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has said the party has forgiven past grievances that happened to the party and it's leaders.

He made the remarks on Tuesday night (January 27) during a roadside meeting at Muksudpur bus stand in Gopalganj while returning to Dhaka after campaigning in the southwest region.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, “Whatever happened to us in the past, we have forgiven it as a party. We have vowed not to engage in politics of revenge, extortion, or corruption—and we have remained committed to that pledge.”

He added that Jamaat does not support deceit, bank robberies, or stock market manipulation in politics. “Our politics is not about becoming rulers, but about serving the country,” he said.

The party chief also emphasised the need to free the country from blame-shifting, flattery, lies, and fascist-style politics.

He noted that Jamaat, historically one of the most persecuted parties, has reached out to people of all religions and social classes, assuring equal rights for all.

Expressing commitment to a discrimination-free Bangladesh, he said the party is determined to build a peaceful and united country for future generations. “No oppressor will be allowed to harm anyone,” he added.
