Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu has said a permanent office will be constructed by purchasing land legally in the name of the party's secretary general.

He made the remarks as chief guest at a discussion meeting organised by the district BNP at a community centre in Rajshahi on Friday afternoon to mark the Independence and National Day.

Speaking about the Ministry of Land's khas land, the minister said, "There is much khas land under the Ministry of Land. If we wanted, we could have occupied those and built offices. But BNP does not believe in land grabbing. We will purchase land legally in the name of the party's secretary general and construct a permanent office."

Minu alleged that members of what he called the 'Helmet Brigade' have now emerged as a clandestine force since the fall of the "fascist Hasina government". He claimed they are behind the current unstable situation in the country.

He said, "Preserving independence is harder than achieving it. Our declaration is 'Bangladesh First'. We do not believe in being 'masters', but rather in 'friendship'. The common people of Bangladesh are our true strength."

Addressing party activists, he said BNP is not a party of ministers, MPs or mayors; it is entirely a party of its workers. The workers are the lifeblood of this party.

The meeting was chaired by district BNP convener and Rajshahi-6 constituency MP Abu Saeed Chand. Special guests included Rajshahi-3 constituency MP Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon, central committee member and district BNP senior joint convener Saiful Islam Marshal, and district BNP member secretary Professor Bishwanath Sarkar.
