We will work to implement manifesto: Mirza Fakhrul in Thakurgaon

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that if the BNP is able to form the government, they will work to implement the party's declared election manifesto.

He spoke to journalists at his residence in the Kalibari area of Thakurgaon town around 10:00 pm on Thursday. Mirza Fakhrul said, "We are ahead, inshallah we will get a majority, definitely a good majority. If we get that majority, we will also form the government."

He further said, "The final results have not come yet. But if we get the opportunity, we will try to reflect the aspirations of the people. If we can form the government, we will work towards implementing the manifesto that BNP has declared."

The national parliamentary election and referendum were held on this day, and results began to be announced at night.

Mirza Fakhrul contested from the Thakurgaon-1 constituency with the sheaf of paddy symbol. In results from 123 out of 185 centres, he received 1,52,313 votes. His nearest rival, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Delawar Hossain (scale symbol), received 89,493 votes. Islami Andolan Bangladesh candidate Khademul Islam received 2,653 votes. The constituency has a total of 5,11,631 voters.
