What state minister said about bringing Hadi murder accused back to country

Contact has been made with the Deputy High Commission in Kolkata regarding bringing back the two accused in the murder case of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi from India, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed has said. She made this remark at a press conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday.

The state minister for foreign affairs said, Faisal Karim Masud and Alamgir Hossain have been arrested in West Bengal as suspects in the Hadi murder case. They have likely been placed on a 14-day remand.

She said, our Deputy High Commissioner in Kolkata has already made contact. We have requested consular access. The information we have is not sufficient. We must wait until we have complete information. We have a prisoner exchange agreement with India.

Earlier, the Special Task Force (STF) of West Bengal Police in India informed about the arrest of the main accused and his accomplice in the Hadi murder case from Bangaon, the border area across from Jashore. According to the STF statement, the arrested individuals are Faisal Karim Masud, 37, a resident of Patuakhali, and Alamgir Hossain, 34, a resident of Dhaka.

It is to be noted, Sharif Osman Hadi, coordinator and spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha, was shot on December 12 while going by rickshaw after Jummah prayers in the capital's Purana Paltan area. Later, he was taken to Singapore for advanced treatment. He died on December 18 while undergoing treatment there. Inqilab Mancha Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber filed an attempted murder case at Paltan Police Station on December 14 over this incident. Later, it was converted to a murder case. The Detective Branch (DB) of DMP investigated the case and submitted a chargesheet against 17 accused in court on January 6.
