The High Court has raised a question as to why the court issue an order barring Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the chief adviser to the former interim government, and 24 others, to go abroad.

At the same time, the court commented that the former chief adviser has many things in the country, including his business. So he is not running away.

The High Court raised this question while hearing a writ petition on Tuesday (May 19) as the petitioner's lawyer sought an investigation into the cancellation of the measles vaccination programme and a ban on Dr. Yunus' going abroad.

The writ petition was filed on May 17, seeking an order to investigate the role of the people concerned, including Dr. Yunus, in the decision of the former interim government to cancel the measles vaccination programme, which has been running for more than two and a half decades in the health sector. At the same time, it sought an order to ban the travel of the 24 other people concerned. Supreme Court lawyer Barrister M Ashraful Islam filed this writ petition in the relevant branch of the High Court.
