Wife marries elsewhere, son killed in anger

Allegations have been raised against father Ibrahim Khalil of calling and killing his 14-year-old madrasa-going son Naeem out of anger after his former wife remarried elsewhere. In this incident the deceased’s mother Fatema Akter Sumi filed a murder case as the complainant at Charjabbar Police Station of Noakhali on Friday morning.

Earlier police recovered Naeem’s body from beside a paddy field in Madhya Bagya village of Charjubli union under Subarnachar upazila on Tuesday afternoon.

Naeem was a student of the Nazera section of Darul Ulum Madani Nagar Madrasa of Charjabbar union. After the divorce of his parents three years ago he used to stay at his maternal grandfather’s house and study.

It has been learnt from the case and the deceased’s family sources that about 20 to 25 days ago Naeem’s mother and Ibrahim Khalil’s former wife had her second marriage. From then on allegations arose against Ibrahim Khalil of threatening the former wife in various ways.

The family alleged that Ibrahim Khalil called his own child and killed him on Monday night to take revenge on the former wife. Later Naeem’s body was left beside the paddy field.

Additional Superintendent of Police of Noakhali Ahmed Pear informed that the accused father has been arrested by police. In the primary interrogation he has confessed to killing his own child. He has been produced before the Noakhali Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Friday afternoon.

Police informed that the detailed reason for the killing and other matters related to the incident will be known after the end of the investigation.
