Allegations have surfaced in Sakhipur, Tangail, that a woman left her ailing husband by the roadside at night. Locals claim the man was abandoned there by his ex-wife and children. However, the accused woman has denied the allegation.

The incident took place on Saturday (August 1) night in the Kalmegha area of the upazila. The victim, Jamal Uddin, 49, is a resident of the area.

Local sources said Jamal Uddin returned home from Saudi Arabia about eight months ago after falling ill, having worked there for a long time. He was suffering from kidney complications and various other health issues. On Saturday night, locals spotted him lying on the road next to his ancestral home, rescued him and arranged shelter at a relative's house.

Local UP member Mosharraf confirmed the incident, saying that upon hearing the news, locals came forward and took the ailing man to a safe place.

Jamal Uddin's elder brother Sohrab Ali alleged that his brother was left by the roadside in a critical condition.

However, the accused Rina Akhtar claimed that she had divorced Jamal Uddin a few months ago. She said there is currently no marital relationship between them and she does not know how Jamal Uddin ended up there that night.

Regarding the matter, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ashraful Alam said the incident has been reported to the upazila social services officer. Necessary measures will be taken after looking into the matter.
