Woman alleges rape at knifepoint in Bhola
A woman in Bhola Sadar Upazila has alleged that she was raped at knifepoint by a neighbour after he broke into her home and threatened to kill her children. The incident reportedly took place in the early hours of Tuesday, July 8, at her in-laws’ residence in Kandokpur village under Ward 4 of Rajapur Union.
The victim, a mother of two, is currently undergoing treatment at Bhola Sadar Hospital.
According to her statement, the accused, Kamal Majhi, entered the house by cutting through a wall around 1:30 AM. At the time, her husband was away at sea, and her in-laws had recently left for Dhaka. She was alone with her two sons.
“When I realized someone had entered, I shouted for help. He covered my mouth with a scarf and held a knife to my throat. When I resisted, he held the knife to my son’s neck,” she alleged. “He then undressed me, recorded a video, and raped me.”
The woman also claimed that the assailant forced her to say on camera that she had invited him into the house. He allegedly threatened to release the video and kill her children if she spoke out.
Her family later rescued her and admitted her to the hospital.
Dr. Sheikh Sufian Rustam, Superintendent of Bhola Sadar Hospital, confirmed that the victim has received initial treatment and undergone necessary medical examinations.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhola Sadar Model Police Station, Abu Shahadat Md. Hasnine Parvez, stated: “Police teams were dispatched to both the scene and the hospital immediately after receiving the information. A preliminary investigation is underway. No formal complaint has been filed yet, but legal action will be taken once it is received.”
The victim has demanded justice and strict punishment for the accused.
