Woman among 3 found dead in Shahbagh
Police recovered the bodies of three people, including a woman, from different locations in Shahbagh on Thursday night. The bodies were found between 9:30 PM and midnight at the National Eidgah grounds, the pavement near the Central Shaheed Minar, and beside Dhaka University’s central mosque.
Sub-Inspector Md. Ikramul Haque of Shahbagh Police Station said a 40-year-old man was found unconscious on the pavement in front of the Shaheed Minar. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared him dead around midnight. The man, believed to be homeless, has not yet been identified. His body has been sent to the DMCH morgue for post-mortem.
Another body, that of a 55-year-old woman, was recovered from the pavement beside Dhaka University’s central mosque. SI Md. Ilias Kabir said the woman was found unconscious and was taken to DMCH, where she was declared dead around 10 PM. Authorities are working to establish her identity.
A third man, also 40, was found dead on the pavement near the National Eidgah grounds. SI Golam Rasel Parvez said no visible injuries were found on the body, and preliminary reports suggest death due to illness or physical weakness. The exact cause of death will be confirmed after post-mortem results.
All three bodies have been kept at the DMCH morgue.
