Woman assaulted on bus for not wearing ‘Orna’; video goes viral

A video of a man physically assaulting a woman on a moving local bus in Dhaka for allegedly not wearing an orna (scarf) has gone viral on social media, drawing widespread condemnation.

The footage, shared widely on Facebook, shows the man arguing with the woman before repeatedly hitting her, while other passengers remain silent and make no attempt to intervene.

In response, the young woman took off her shoes and struck the man with them.

Reports suggest the incident occurred after the man objected to the woman’s attire, though details are yet to be confirmed.

Netizens have expressed outrage over the incident, demanding immediate action against the perpetrator. One user wrote, “The woman was harassed and beaten because of her clothing, and everyone just watched. The attacker’s face is visible—he must be arrested within 24 hours.”

However, some netizens also criticized the woman’s actions. She has not yet been reached for comment.
