Woman beaten to death in Hazaribagh

A 65-year-old woman was beaten to death in Dhaka’s Hazaribagh area following a dispute with neighbours.

The victim, Rowshan Ara, wife of Amzad Hossain from Kalu Nagar near the Hazaribagh embankment, was attacked late Thursday night (July 31) outside her home. According to her daughter, Runa Akter, three to four men assaulted her mother with sticks during a heated argument.

Rowshan Ara sustained severe injuries and was initially taken to a local hospital. She was later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in critical condition early Friday. The emergency department doctors declared her dead upon arrival.

The family has reportedly had ongoing conflicts with their neighbours, which is believed to have led to the fatal attack.

Md. Faruk, officer-in-charge of the DMCH police camp, confirmed that the victim’s body is currently in the hospital morgue and that the incident has been reported to the Hazaribagh police station for further investigation.
