Police have recovered the hanging body of a housewife named Trisha, 21, in Sonargaon, Narayanganj. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon, May 31, in the Bhadurikanda village of Jamur union.

Police have sent the body to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy. Family members have alleged that she was murdered and then hanged to stage a suicide following a family dispute. Her husband has been missing since the incident.

The accused family claimed that Trisha had an argument with her father-in-law over bringing her sister. Following this, family discord arose. Trisha reportedly hanged herself from a beam in her room. Family members found her hanging between 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm. Her husband Sohag and relatives brought her down, but she was already dead.

Trisha's maternal uncle, Jamal Hossain, claimed she was married to Sohag six years ago. The couple had no children, which led to family discord. He alleged that she was strangled to death and then hanged to make it look like suicide. There were no signs of suicide, he said, adding that her husband fled after the incident.

Tal Tala Police Investigation Centre Sub-Inspector Selim Hossain said preliminary investigation suggests it is a case of suicide. The body has been sent for autopsy. The actual cause of death will be confirmed after receiving the post-mortem report. Legal proceedings are ongoing.
