A housewife has allegedly been gang-raped in Tazumuddin upazila, Bhola. Locals rescued the woman and admitted her in a bloody condition to Tazumuddin Upazila Health Complex.

The woman's family alleged she was gang-raped after 9 pm on Sunday, February 22.

Tazumuddin Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdus Salam told media that a case will be filed once the victim recovers. Police have collected evidence and recorded the woman's statement. Efforts are underway to arrest the accused.

Tazumuddin Upazila Health Complex Residential Medical Officer Md Shamsul Islam said, "The woman was very unwell when brought to the hospital. She was bleeding profusely. Although there were injury marks on her body, they were not very deep. Due to the absence of a female doctor here, we provided primary treatment and referred her to Bhola Sadar Hospital for advanced care."

According to family sources, the woman's in-laws are in Barishal. After she had a child, her in-laws left her at her father's house in Tazumuddin, Bhola.

According to the woman's family members, a five-day kirtan programme began in Tazumuddin upazila on Thursday. Around 9:30 pm last night, the housewife went there. Three miscreants gagged her, took her to a nearby garden and raped her.
