A woman named Fahia Akhter has been handed over to police by hospital authorities for allegedly engaging in a scuffle and behaving discourteously with a doctor at Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital. The incident took place around 10:00 pm on Saturday, April 11, in ward number 212 of the hospital's gynaecology department. Fahia Akhter is known to be the wife of Zahidul Islam of the Kaunia area in Savar.

In-charge of the DMC Hospital police outpost, Md Faruk, said a patient named Moni Akhter from Savar was admitted to the gynaecology ward that night. Fahia Akhter was accompanying her as a relative.

When doctors asked her to leave the ward, she refused. Later, when Assistant Registrar Dr Farzana Akhter Mime and Medical Officer Dr Sabina Sultana attempted to escort her out, the situation became heated.

Police said that at one point, a scuffle and altercation took place between Fahia Akhter and the doctors in front of the ward's operation theatre. Hospital Ansar members later detained her, took her to the police camp, and she was subsequently handed over to Shahbagh Police Station.

Earlier, on April 8, an intern doctor was injured in a clash with Dhaka University students at the DMC Hospital emergency department. Following that incident, emergency services were suspended for approximately four hours, and a six-member committee was formed to investigate the matter.
