Woman killed in road accident on Dhaka-Bhanga expressway

An unidentified woman, believed to be around 45 years old, was killed after being struck by a passenger bus early Thursday on the Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway in the Shibchar upazila of Madaripur district.

The incident occurred near the Kutubpur Munshir Bazar area, according to the Shibchar Highway Police. The victim’s identity has not yet been confirmed.

Local residents discovered the woman lying in a pool of blood on the Dhaka-bound lane of the expressway shortly after the accident. Upon receiving the report, highway police arrived at the scene and rushed the seriously injured woman to the Shibchar Upazila Health Complex, where doctors pronounced her dead.

Zahidul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of the Shibchar Highway Police Station, stated that initial investigations suggest the woman may have been attempting to cross the road when she was hit.

Police are working to identify the deceased and trace the vehicle involved.
