Woman missing in Kurigram found in tamarind grove in morning
A day after going missing in Ulipur Upazila of Kurigram, a housewife has been rescued from a tamarind grove. The incident has created a lot of excitement and curiosity in the area.
Locals found the housewife in a tamarind tree on the bank of a pond in the Anandabazar area of Gorai, Ulipur Upazila on Wednesday morning (May 6). Later, after receiving information, the fire service went and rescued her.
According to local sources, the woman went missing around 10pm last Tuesday. Her family members searched in various places but could not find her. Later in the morning, locals found her on a tree branch.
Eyewitnesses said that the woman was sometimes sitting, sometimes lying on the tree branch and was seen eating something. When the incident became known, a crowd of curious people gathered there.
Upon receiving the information, a team of Fire Service and Civil Defense rushed to the spot and tried to bring her down. Although she initially refused to cooperate, she was later safely lowered down.
Deputy Assistant Director of Kurigram Fire Service Md. Enamul Haque said that upon receiving the information, rescue workers quickly went to the spot and with the help of her family, she was brought down from the tree.
Details about the physical and mental condition of the woman after the rescue are not known. However, the police and local administration are investigating the incident.
