Woman reportedly poisons daughter, commits suicide in Jashore

A woman has died after reportedly poisoning herself and her 17-month-old daughter in Jashore's Choughachha.

The deceased is Jesmin Akter, 35, wife of Mukter Ali of Sadipur village.

Jesmin's family members claimed that Jesmin took poison after poisoning her daughter Mukta over family feud on Monday.

Sensing the matter, Jesmin's in-laws took them Choughachha Health Complex from where they were referred to Jeshore Hospital. Later, doctors suggested that they should be shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital for better treatment. However, the family members took them back to the house where Jesmin fell severely ill on Tuesday evening.

Later, she was declared dead when in-laws took her to the health complex.

Jesmin's brother claimed that Mukter ofter beat his sister and they deliberately kept her in their house instead of taking her to hospital.

Choughachha OC Jellal Hossain said Jesmin's daughter is in critical condition.

The matter is under investigation, he added.

They alleged that Mukter ofter beat her.
