Woman’s body recovered in Faridpur, husband on the run
Police have recovered the body of a young housewife, Mim Akter (18), from a rented apartment in Raghunandanpur, Faridpur town. Law enforcement suspects her husband, Miraj Biswas (25), as the killer, as injury marks were found on her neck and he fled the scene.
Mim was the daughter of Siraj Sheikh from Shariatpur’s Jajira Sadar Union, while her husband Miraj hailed from Baikhir village in Chatul Union of Boalmari upazila. The couple had been renting a second-floor apartment in a four-story building owned by Abdul Jalil in the area for the past six months.
Around 2 p.m. on Saturday (August 9), police recovered Mim’s body and sent it to the morgue at Faridpur Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.
Neerunnahar Bari, wife of landlord Jalil Sheikh, said, “When they rented the flat, Mim said she worked at a beauty parlor and Miraj said he was an employee at a shop. I heard they had an argument last night. Early this morning, Miraj woke me up and asked me to unlock the gate. When I asked why, he said a relative of his had died and he was going there. I opened the gate, and he left.”
She added, “Later in the morning, two men came, claiming to be Miraj’s relatives, and asked us to accompany them to the apartment. When we went inside, we found Mim lying dead on the floor. Right after that, those two men slipped away.”
Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Asaduzzaman said the body was found inside the apartment, covered with clothes, with visible injury marks on the neck. “Her husband fled after the incident, and police are working to catch him. The victim’s family has been informed,” he added.
