Woman's dismembered body found in trolley bag in Gazipur, identity unknown

Police have recovered the dismembered body of a woman inside a trolley bag from under a bridge beside the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Gazipur Sadar upazila.

The body was recovered from the Bhabanipur area of the upazila on Friday afternoon, September 11. Joydebpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Al Mamun confirmed the matter.

Police said locals spotted an abandoned trolley bag lying in a ditch under the bridge and informed the police station. Police later went to the scene and found the dismembered body of a woman inside the bag. The identity of the deceased could not be immediately ascertained. Police estimate her age to be between 30 and 35.

OC Al Mamun said after preparing the inquest report, the body was sent to the morgue of Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital for post-mortem.

He said an investigation is underway to determine how the woman reached the spot and how she died. Efforts are also ongoing to identify the deceased.

Police said the process of taking legal action in the incident is underway.
