A controversy has emerged at Chattogram University (CU) after a student reportedly found a sticker featuring a woman's photograph in his lunch at the Shahjalal residential hall. A picture of the incident has since gone viral on social media, sparking widespread criticism among students.

The incident occurred when a student named Hridoy Miah discovered the sticker in his meal on Thursday (July 9) afternoon. He is a student of the 2021–2022 academic session in the Department of Human Resource Management.

According to Hridoy Miah, he sat down for lunch at the Shahjalal Hall dining room. While pouring a fish dish onto his plate, he noticed a sticker featuring an illustrated image of a woman, with the text "enriched with the nutrition of fenugreek" printed at the bottom. When he immediately brought the matter to the attention of the dining manager, the manager explained that the sticker might have accidentally fallen into the food from a packet of "Magic Masala" spice mix used during cooking.

Expressing deep concern over the quality of food at the dormitory, Al Amin, a second-year student, stated that finding such items in hall meals is highly unfortunate and reflects sheer negligence in food preparation and serving. He urged the university administration to investigate the matter and take necessary steps to ensure safe and quality food for students.

Alauddin Sandwipi, Vice President (VP) of the Shahjalal Hall Student Parliament, confirmed that he was aware of the issue and would meet tonight with the hall parliament members and the Central Cafeteria Secretary of CUCSU to determine the necessary course of action.

He noted that due to long-standing complaints regarding food quality, the previous manager had been replaced with a new one. He added that further measures would be taken if necessary to guarantee proper food standards.

When contacted regarding the issue, the Provost of Shahjalal Hall, Professor Dr. Mohammad Khalid Afzal, stated that he was unaware of the incident as he did not visit the campus today due to university closures. He added that the hall parliament had not informed him about the matter either, but assured that appropriate action would be taken upon receiving a formal complaint.
