Women's Awami League leader shouts 'Joy Bangla' slogan in police car
Bangladesh Women's Awami League leader and former councilor Kazi Jahanara Parvin, who was detained at Nilphamari's Saidpur police station, shouted 'Joy Bangla' slogan after getting into a police car. The incident took place inside the police station around 11:30pm on Tuesday (May 12).
According to local sources, Kazi Jahanara Parvin went to Saidpur police station to attend a mediation meeting. She started arguing with some leaders of the Bangladesh Nationalist Women's Party present there. When the situation became tense, she tried to leave the police station. Later, the police detained her inside the police station.
After being detained, she again got into an argument with the leaders of the women's party present in front of the police station. According to eyewitnesses, at one stage, she shouted 'Joy Bangla' slogan while being taken into a police car. He was also heard chanting slogans like '71's weapon, roar again'.
Later, it is learnt that preparations were started to arrest Kazi Jahanara in a case filed by Nilphamari Sadar Police Station.
As news of the incident spread, a crowd of his supporters gathered in front of the police station. Additional law enforcement officers were deployed to control the situation and the police took a cautious stance.
In this regard, Md. Rezaul Karim Reza said that Kazi Jahanara Parveen has been arrested in a case filed by Nilphamari. However, he did not immediately disclose the details of the case.
