Women’s rights activist Rowshan Jahan no more
Prominent women’s rights activist Rowshan Jahan has passed away. She breathed her last while undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital on Tuesday, November 3.
Rowshan Jahan is survived by one daughter, two sons and three grandchildren. She was the wife of late Professor Muzaffar Ahmed.
Throughout her long career, Rowshan Jahan worked for women’s rights and empowerment. She also authored several books on the subject. In addition, she was actively involved in various organisations including Women for Women, Bangladesh Mahila Parishad, Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK), and Bangladesh Grameen Samiti (BGS), playing a key role in promoting women’s rights and social justice movements.
According to family sources, her namaz-e-janaza will be held on Thursday after Zuhr prayers at Azad Mosque in Gulshan, Dhaka.
