Won't offer Eid prayers if not appointed as an adviser: Siraj-ud-Daula

Siraj-ud-Daula Chowdhury of Rangpur has announced that he will not offer Eid-ul-Fitr prayers if he is not appointed as an advisor from Rangpur division. He made this announcement at a press conference at the Panchagarh Press Club on Friday (March 14) morning.

Siraj-ud-Daula Chowdhury is the son of Abul Kashem Chowdhury of Bedbari Pakuaria Sharif village in Gangachara upazila of Rangpur district.

In a written statement at the press conference, Siraj-ud-Daula Chowdhury said, I have served the common people in Rangpur all my life.

No adviser has been appointed in the current interim government from the northern region. If I am not appointed as an advisor, I demand that anyone from the 16 districts of Rangpur-Rajshahi division be appointed as an advisor.

He said, if I am not appointed as an advisor from Rangpur division, I will not attend the next Eid-ul-Fitr prayers. For this, he drew the attention of Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

In his written speech, he also called for the Nobel Prize to be awarded to Dr. Yunus for his role in building the country, Begum Khaleda Zia for democracy and popularity, and Army Chief Waqar Uz Zaman for patriotism and humanity. Journalists of print and electronic media working in the district were present at the press conference.
