Worker killed, 3 injured as mini truck falls into ditch in Teknaf

A worker was killed and three others injured when a mini-truck lost control and fell into a roadside ditch in Teknaf of Cox’s Bazar.

The accident took place around 2:00am at Kanjarpara in Whykong Union on the Teknaf–Cox’s Bazar road on Thursday night (April 23).

The deceased was identified as Md Jisan, 22, son of Yusuf from Bainjuri village in Chandanaish upazila of Chattogram. The identities of the injured workers could not be immediately confirmed.

According to police and local sources, the mini-truck, travelling from Chandanaish towards Hnila in Teknaf, lost control upon reaching Kanjarpara and plunged into a roadside ditch, leaving Jisan dead on the spot. Three others sustained injuries in the incident.

Locals rushed to the scene shortly after the crash and rescued the injured, who were later sent to an MSF hospital in Ukhiya for treatment.

Confirming the incident, Whykong Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nurul Absar said, "The vehicle has been seized and legal procedures are underway."
