Workers block highway demanding arrears

Workers blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Tongi of Gazipur demanding arrears.

They blocked the highway in the Dattapara area of ​​Tongi around 9 am on Saturday (May 17), halting vehicular movement on the highway.

Workers of a factory named HIS Apparels Limited in the Dattapara area of ​​Tongi have blocked the highway, causing immense suffering to the travellers.

According to police, more than 1,500 workers of HIS Apparels Limited located in Dattapara took to the street as have not yet received their salaries for the month of April.

Like every day, the workers entered the factory on Saturday morning. At one stage, they left the factory around 9 am. Later, they blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway.

Gazipur Industrial Police-2 Tongi Zone Inspector Ismail Hossain said that the workers have blocked the highway demanding arrears. Work is being done to resolve the problem.
