Operations at Chattogram Port remain stalled for the second consecutive day as workers continue their strike, disrupting loading and unloading of containers and cargo at the jetties.

Today's strike began at 8:00am and is scheduled to continue until 5:00pm.

While limited internal activities continue, major operations and machinery remain inactive due to absentee operators.

In response, port authorities formed a six-member committee on January 31 to assess revenue losses and identify responsible parties, with a five-day deadline to submit a report.

Four leading employees have been transferred to Keraniganj’s Pangao Naval Terminal in Dhaka: Audit Assistant Humayun Kabir, Engine Driver Ibrahim Khokon, Senior Accounts Assistant Anwarul Azim, and SS Khalasi Faridur Rahman.

Despite the transfers, striking workers have continued their protest, demanding the reversal of the decision to allocate the NCT terminal to foreign operators. Ibrahim Khokon, a strike leader, said stricter measures would follow if their demands were not met.

Chattogram Metropolitan Police have imposed a ban on marches and gatherings at the port from February 1 to March 2, excluding parliamentary election campaigns.

Port operators report ongoing disruption at GCB Terminal as workers have yet to resume duties.
