Workshop on Sufi philosophy, psychology and meditation held in Dhaka
A day-long experiential workshop on Sufi philosophy, Sufi psychology and Sufi meditation was held at Asia Hotel and Resort in the capital on Saturday, July 11.
The workshop was chaired by Khwaja Osman Faruki Khajaji, Director of the Sufi Centre, with Emeritus Professor Dr Anisuzzaman, former Chairman of Dhaka University's Philosophy Department, as chief guest.
Dr K M Saiful Islam Khan, Professor of Persian Language and Literature at Dhaka University, was the keynote speaker. Dr Manjur-e-Murshed, Deputy Director of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital, delivered the welcome speech as convener of the event.
Speaking as chief guest, Dr Anisuzzaman highlighted the importance of integrating knowledge, self-awareness and moral development for building a humane and balanced society. He also stressed the importance of spiritual practice in bringing positive change to individual and social life.
Chairman Khwaja Osman Faruki Khajaji said Sufism purifies the inner self and helps one connect with the true self and the Creator. He described Sufi psychology and meditation as a scientific and experiential process for achieving mental balance, self-realisation and spiritual excellence.
The day-long workshop included discussions on various theoretical and practical aspects of Sufi philosophy, psychology and meditation, along with Q&A sessions and experiential sessions.
