A young expatriate returnee has been shot dead by miscreants in East Rupsa of Khulna. The incident took place around 9.00pm at Ramnagar area under Noihati Union of the upazila on Thursday (November 6). The deceased was identified as Sohel Hawladar, 45, son of Rustam Hawladar from Rahimnagar. "He had recently returned from Saudi Arabia," confirmed Nazmul Hossain, sub-inpector (SI) of Rupsa Police Station. OC Abdus Sabur Khan, said, "Sohel was standing near a field outside his home when attackers opened fire, and one bullet struck his chest, killing him instantly." "The motive behind the killing is yet unknown," he added. Notably, Rupsa has recorded three shooting deaths over the year.

খুলনার দুর্বৃত্তদের গুলিতে সোহেল হাওলাদার (৪৫) নামের এক প্রবাস ফেরত যুবক নিহত হয়েছেন। বৃহস্পতিবার রাত ৯টার দিকে পূর্ব রূপসার নৈহাটি ইউনিয়নের রামনগর এলাকায় মানিক সরদারের মাঠের পাশে এ ঘটনা ঘটে। সোহেল হাওলাদার রহিমনগর গ্রামের রুস্তম হাওলাদারের ছেলে। তিনি দীর্ঘদিন সৌদি আরব ছিলেন এবং কয়েকদিন আগে দেশে ফেরেন। রূপসা থানার এস আই নাজমুল হাসান জানান, সোহেল হাওলাদার দীর্ঘদিন দেশের বাইরে ছিলেন। কয়েকদিন আগে প্রবাস থেকে দেশে ফেরেন। বৃহস্পতিবার রাতে বাড়ির পাশে মাঠে অবস্থান করছিলেন। এ সময় কয়েকজন দুর্বৃত্ত তাকে লক্ষ্য করে কয়েক রাউন্ড গুলি ছোড়ে। একটি গুলি বুকের বামপাশে বিদ্ধ হলে ঘটনাস্থলে মারা যান তিনি। রূপসা থানার ওসি (তদন্ত) আবদুস সবুর খান বলেন, রাতে রুটি এবং দই কেনার জন্য বাড়ি থেকে বের হন সোহেল হাওলাদার। বাড়ির পাশের মাঠেই সন্ত্রাসীরা তাকে লক্ষ্য করে গুলি ছুড়লে ৮টা গুলি তার শরীরের বিভিন্নস্থানে বিদ্ধ হয়। তবে হত্যার কারণ সম্পর্কে এখনও কিছু জানা যায়নি। প্রসঙ্গত, চলতি বছর রূপসায় গুলি করে তিনজনকে হত্যা করা হয়।
