Young woman 'raped' on job promise in Narayanganj

A young woman who was looking for a job in Bandar of Narayanganj, has allegedly been raped at gunpoint.

After the incident, the accused was arrested with the help of the locals and was handed over to the police.

On Tuesday (March 3) morning, the 22-year-old victim filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with Bandar Police Station. Earlier on Monday (March 2) night, locals captured the accused Rahmat Mia, 34, in Madanpur area and handed him over to the police.

Police said that Rahmat Mia is a resident of Dighaldari area of ​​Aditmari upazila of Lalmonirhat district. He had been living in a rented house in Kutubpur area of ​​Sonargaon police station for a long time.

The victim was rescued and sent to Narayanganj General Hospital for a medical examination.

The case statement alleges that on the night of February 27, the young woman was held hostage at gunpoint in an abandoned building in the Hirajheel residential area of ​​Siddhirganj police station and was raped multiple times. At that time, she was returning home by rickshaw from Madanpur bus stand. On the way, the accused stopped the rickshaw and threatened her and abducted her.

She was released the next morning. After that, when the accused tried to contact her by calling from different numbers, he was tactfully called to the Madanpur bus stand area. Then, he was captured with the help of the locals and was handed over to the police.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bandar Police Station Golam Muktar Ashraf Uddin said that a case has been registered under the Women and Child Abuse Act.

The accused has been arrested and was sent to the jail by the court.
