Ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections and national referendum, Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus urged citizens to actively participate, calling it a historic moment for Bangladesh’s democracy.

Addressing the nation on Victory Day on Tuesday evening (December 16), he stressed that the elections must be peaceful, inclusive, and credible, with full security, administrative, and technological support.

“Your vote is not just a mark on paper—it is your role in nation-building and shaping a New Bangladesh,” Dr. Yunus said.

He warned against ballot box tampering, urging voters to safeguard the process with legal support if needed.

He highlighted the unprecedented participation of overseas Bangladeshis via postal ballots and emphasised political unity: parties should compete fairly, not as enemies.

Dr. Yunus also announced judicial reforms, including a separate administrative structure for the judiciary, reinforcing independence and accountability.

“This election and referendum will define the country’s governance, administration, and democratic future—every vote counts,” he added.
