Youth and Sports Ministry’s budget proposed at Tk 2,423 crore

The Youth and Sports Ministry’s budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 has been proposed at Tk 2,423 crore, marking a significant increase from the previous year. Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed submitted the budget proposal, allocating Tk 1,440.37 crore for development and Tk 982.63 crore for operational expenses.

The revised budget for FY 2024-25 stood at Tk 1,580.78 crore, with Tk 627.95 crore earmarked for development and Tk 952.83 crore for operations. This year’s proposal reflects an increase of Tk 842.21 crore.

Key projects include the construction of mini stadiums at the Upazila level (Phase 2), enhancement of the Narail Bir Sreshtho Noor Mohammad Stadium and table tennis facilities, new indoor and volleyball stadiums, and modernization of BKSP training centers. The ministry also plans extensive poverty alleviation projects, IT training across 64 districts, freelancing skill development in 48 districts, and expansion of the Central Human Resource Development Center in Savar.

The budget also focuses on empowering unemployed youth through self-employment programs, encouraging voluntary participation in development activities, rewarding outstanding youth, and supporting youth organizations.

Funding will support national and international sports competitions, talent scouting, rural sports development, grants for sports organizations, welfare for underprivileged athletes, and maintenance of sports infrastructure.
