Youth arrested for raping minor in Munshiganj

Police have arrested a youth on charges of raping a 15-year-old teenager in Srinagar upazila of Munshiganj. The accused, Md. Nirab Sheikh, was arrested on Wednesday (May 6). He is the son of Dhenu Mia of Birtara area of ​​the upazila.

According to police and local sources, Nirab Sheikh called three teenagers from the same area to pick grass in a corn field on Tuesday afternoon. Later, he tactfully removed two of them and left one teenager alone. It is alleged that he raped the 15-year-old teenager, who was studying in class 8 at the time.

When the victim teenager informed her family members about the incident, a sensation arose in the area. Later, when the matter was reported to the police, a raid was conducted and the accused was arrested.

Locals said that Nirab Sheikh has various previous charges against him, including theft and drug dealing.

Srinagar Police Station Investigating Inspector Milton Dutta said that after receiving the complaint, a quick raid was conducted and the accused was arrested. Legal action is under process in this incident.
