Youth beaten to death in Natore over alleged pigeon theft
A man was brutally beaten to death in Singra, Natore, following accusations of pigeon theft.
The incident took place on Friday evening (August 8) in the Parsingra Mohalla area of the municipal town.
The victim, Akram, 20, son of the late Yunus Ali, was allegedly involved in a theft at the pigeon farm of local farmer Mithu.
According to locals and police source, Mithu accused Akram of stealing pigeons and sought justice through a village arbitration. When Akram failed to attend, Mithu and an accomplice allegedly captured and beat him in a guava garden. They left him severely injured by the roadside, where locals later found him and took him to Singra Upazila Health Complex, where he was declared dead.
Police recovered the body at the scene and sent it for autopsy at Natore Modern Sadar Hospital.
Dr. Shamima Afroz, who examined Akram, confirmed multiple injuries on his body.
Singra Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge, Rafiqul Islam, stated that a case will be filed soon as investigations continue into the tragic incident.
