Youth commits suicide in Ramu after a family dispute over debt
Ismat Hossain Takib, 29, committed suicide in Ramu upazila of Cox's Bazar over a dispute with his wife over NGO loan installments. Police recovered his hanging body from a rented house in Adarshgram area of Rajarkul union of the upazila on Thursday morning (April 16).
The deceased Takib is the son of the late Mohammad Mohsin of Maijghona village of Saharbil union of Chakaria upazila. He had been living in a rented house of a Dubai expatriate with his family in Adarshgram area of Ward No. 4 of Rajarkul for a long time.
Citing locals, Ramu Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Mohammad Farid said that for a long time, Ismat Hossain Takib and his wife Rubayet Sarmin Monira had been in a family feud over various issues. The husband and wife also quarreled on Wednesday night. At one point in the dispute, Takib threw his wife out and locked the door of the house from inside.
He also said that in the morning, when the locals found the door of the house closed, they called out to Takib for a long time but did not get any response. Later, on receiving information, the police reached the spot, broke the door and recovered the body hanging from the ceiling of the electric fan. He may have committed suicide anytime between 11pm on Wednesday and 8am on Thursday.
The Ramu police station official said that the body has been sent to the Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Meanwhile, locals said that Ismat Hossain Takib was in debt of a lot of money. There were frequent arguments and disputes between the husband and wife over this debt and there was family unrest. It is initially believed that he chose this extreme path due to Unable to bear the burden of debt and family strife.
