Youth dies after falling from train in Netrokona
A 22-year-old man named Muhid Khan lost his life after falling from the intercity Haor Express train near the Rajur Bazar area of Netrokona city on Friday morning. The victim, who was returning home from Dhaka, died on the spot following the tragic accident.
Muhid, the son of Moinul Kabir Khan from Baropaikura village in Mohanganj Upazila, was employed at a private firm in Dhaka. According to his family and local authorities, he was traveling home Thursday night but, unable to secure a ticket for a seat, was forced to stand by the train’s door throughout the journey. Investigators believe he may have dozed off in the early hours of the morning, causing him to lose his grip and slip from the carriage.
The impact of the fall proved fatal, resulting in one of his legs being severed before his body landed in a nearby ditch. Local residents witnessed the aftermath of the accident and immediately alerted the railway police. Upon arrival, officials recovered the body from the scene. Following a formal request from the victim's family, the Mohanganj Railway Police released the body for burial without requiring a post-mortem examination.
Sub-Inspector Mobarak Hossain, in-charge of the Mohanganj Railway Police Outpost, confirmed the incident and stated that all necessary legal procedures were completed before handing the remains over to the grieving relatives.
