Youth gets life for raping child in Bandarban

A Bandarban court on Sunday sentenced a youth to life in prison for raping a eight-year-old in 2021. At the same time, a fine of 1 lakh taka was imposed.

Zebunnahar Ayesha, judge of women and children repression prevention tribunal in Bandarban gave this order in the morning.

The convicted accused is Harun Mia (38). He is the son of deceased Ratan Khan of Ward No. 5 Sutabadi Para area of ​Faitang UP of Lama in Bandarban.

According to the case, on April 1, 2021, when the child rape victim went to Rahim Khan's grocery store to buy shampoo alone, the accused Md. Harun (38) grabbed her face and forcibly raped her. The matter was reported to the local chairman, member, dignitaries. After the first treatment, on April 2, 2021, the child's mother, Farhana Nasreen, filed a rape case at the Lama police station as the plaintiff. Later, court gave this verdict as the allegations brought against the accused were proven in the testimony.
