Youth hacked to death in Bogura

A young man was hacked to death in Latifpur Colony area of ​​Bogura on Friday midnight (July 10).

The deceased, Arif Sheikh, 35, was the son of Aziz Sheikh of Latifpur ​​Colony. He was attacked with sharp weapons around midnight in the Latifpur Colony area of Bogura.

Police recovered his body from the scene and sent it to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.

According to police and local residents, Arif had been involved in a longstanding dispute over unpaid money and was allegedly being searched for by his rivals hours before the attack.

Family members alleged that the dispute involved Arif's maternal uncle and claimed the killing had been carried out by hired assailants.

However, the allegation has not been independently verified by police.

Ibrahim Ali, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bogura Sadar Police Station, said, "One person had been detained for questioning in connection with the murder."

"The exact motive is yet to be confirmed and that the investigation is ongoing," he added.

Police also said Arif had previously been named in several criminal cases, including a murder case.
