Youth held over rape of 7-year-old in Jamalpur

A youth named Swapan, 38, has been detained by locals on charges of raping a seven-year-old child in Madarganj upazila, Jamalpur. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon in the Char Lotabar area of Sidhuli union.

Madarganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Snehasish Roy confirmed the matter.

According to the child's family, the mother went looking for her daughter around 12:00 pm when she could not find her. She witnessed the incident while searching in a banana grove next to the house. The mother's screams drew locals who caught the accused red-handed and later handed him over to police.

OC Snehasish Roy said the child has been sent to hospital for medical examination. Legal action will be taken based on the complaint filed by the child's family.
