Youth killed, 2 others injured in Khulna shooting

A youth was brutally killed and two others were injured in a shooting by terrorists in Khulna.

The incident took place at Sohag's house in the Popular area of ​​Rajapur village in Rupsha upazila at 9.00pm on Thursday (June 26), according to locals.

The deceased was identified as Sabbir, son of Fazlul Haque, a resident of Sheikhpara area of ​​the city. Amonmg the injured were Saddam Hossain, son of Nur Islam, a resident of Sonar Bangla Gali under Sonadanga police station in the city, and Miraj. Miraj's identity has not been found yet.

Both the injured were admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital. Later that night, Saddam was sent to Dhaka for advanced treatment, while Miraj fled from the hospital.

According to police, the deceased and injured are associates of Khulna's top terrorist Grenade Babu. There are multiple cases against them in different police stations in Khulna. Sohag, the owner of the house where the shooting took place, is also a top drug dealer.

Mahfuzur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Rupsha Police Station, said, "Several young men, including Sabbir and Saddam, were present at the house when it came under attack by a group of 5 to 7 assailants during the night. From the scene, we recovered six bullet casings, four live rounds, a quantity of yaba tablets, and an object resembling a grenade."

"Sabbir's body was sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital for autopsy after an inquest report was prepared during the night," the OC added.
