Youth killed, 3 shot in Ctg terrorist attack

A youth shot dead and three other individuals were injured during a terrorists attack in Rangunia, Chattogram.

The incident took place early Thursday morning (April 10) while the victims were guarding a lemon orchard in the Lemu area of Duijjakhal in Boalkhali, near the Sarafbhata border of the upazila.

The deceased has been identified as Awaimong Marma, son of Angsipru Marma of Barakholapara area of ​​Sarafbhata in the upazila.

The injured have been identified as Mangre Marma, son of Mangsazai Marma; Hlasathui Marma, son of Chaipiu Marma; and Usaimong Marma, son of Sauching Marma — all residents of the same area.

Mangre Marma, who sustained a gunshot wound to the chest, is in critical condition. Of the other two victims, one was shot in the abdomen and the other in the hand. All three are currently undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital.

Local resident Ananta Chowdhury said the deceased and the injured were all lemon farmers by profession. Due to recent incidents of lemon theft in the area, they had been staying overnight to guard their gardens. On Wednesday night, four of them went to the garden for this purpose. In the early hours of the morning, a group of unidentified assailants opened fire on them, leaving one dead on the spot and three others injured.

Confirming the matter, South Rangunia Police Station's Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Shahin said, "Legal actions are underway in connection with the incident."
