Youth killed as truck rams over van in Satkhira

A young man was killed when a truck rammed over a motorized van at Amtola in Satkhira.

The accident took place around 9:30pm on the Patkelghata–Saghardari road near Abhaytala on Friday night (March 13).

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Farhad Hossain, 35, the son of the late contractor Abdur Razzak from Amtala in Satkhira town.

According to police and local sources, Hossain traveled by bus from Satkhira town to Patkelghata and then boarded a motorized van toward his in-laws’ home at Mahadebpur under Keshabpur in Jhenaidah. Near Abhaytala, a sand-laden truck struck the van from behind, causing Hossain to fall and be crushed under the truck’s wheels, killing him instantly.

Patkelghata police recovered the body and seized the truck, but the driver fled the scene.

Lutful Kabir, officer-in-charge (OC) of Patkelghata Police Station, said, “Necessary legal action is underway in connection with the incident.”
