Youth killed in broad daylight in Keraniganj

A youth was hacked to death in broad daylight in Dhaka’s Keraniganj area. The incident took place around 9am on Saturday (September 13) in the Chunkutia Najirerbagh area of South Keraniganj. Police could not immediately say who was behind the killing.

The victim, Sagir (26), worked at a clothing shop in Islampur, Dhaka. He lived in a rented house in Najirerbagh with his wife and one child.

Sagir’s wife, Tina Akter, said her husband had left home in the morning for work. Shortly after, locals informed her that miscreants had attacked Sagir with sharp weapons, striking his neck and leaving him dead on the road.

South Keraniganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Syed Mohammad Akhtar Hossain said following the incident, the police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) visited the scene and launched a preliminary investigation. Efforts are underway to identify those involved. The body has been sent to Sir Salimullah Medical College (Mitford) morgue for autopsy. Legal proceedings are ongoing.
