Youth killed in BSF firing along Kasba border in Brahmanbaria
A young man was killed and several others reportedly injured in alleged firing by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) along the border at Kasba upazila in Brahmanbaria.
The incident took place in the Khamarhati border area under Gopinathpur union late Friday night (May 8).
The deceased was identified as Mursalin, 22, son of Khebju Mia of Batenbari village in Dhajnogor area. He was an eleventh-grade student of Shah Alam Degree College, according to family members.
Relatives said several people called Mursalin from his home on Friday night and took him to the border area. At one stage, BSF personnel allegedly opened fire targeting the group, leaving Murslin dead on the spot.
Family members further alleged that BSF later took his body across the border into India. Several others were also injured in the incident and were taken to hospitals in Cumilla for treatment, though their identities could not immediately be confirmed.
Confirming the matter, Samiul Islam said local authorities received reports of a death in BSF firing and that further details were being verified through the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
The incident has triggered tension and concern among residents in the border area.
