Youth shot dead in broad daylight in Khulna

A young man was shot dead by assailants in Khulna city on Saturday morning (September 12).

The incident took place around 8:30am near Bottola in Kulibagan area under Daulatpur Police Station.

The deceased was identified as Md Jalil Munsi, son of Dilur Munsi and a worker at Ispahani Jute Press.

According to police and locals, Jalil was heading to his father’s betel-leaf shop around 7:45am when he received a phone call and got into an argument. Shortly afterwards, three men on a motorcycle confronted him near Bottola.

At one point, one of the men fired two shots at Jalil, hitting him in the right side of the chest and left side of the back.

Locals rescued him and took him to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Police recovered a live bullet from the scene.

Md Zahidul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Daulatpur Police Station, said, "A patrol team chased the attackers after the shooting, but they managed to flee."

KMP Deputy Commissioner (North) Sudarshan Kumar Roy said no one had been arrested yet. Police were investigating the motive behind the killing and trying to identify those involved.
