Youth shot dead in public in Chattogram
Unidentified criminals shot and killed a 25-year-old youth named Md. Azad in the Panchlaish police station area of Chatogram. The incident occurred around 3:45pm at Forest Gate in the Muradpur area of the police station on Wednesday.
The deceased Azad was the son of Md. Rashid from the Hamjarbag area of Pachlaish police station.
According to eyewitnesses, while Azad was walking along the road in the Forest Gate area in the afternoon, the criminals shot him from behind. He fell to the ground immediately after being hit. Local residents rushed him to Chittagong Medical College (CMC) Hospital, but the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Additional Commissioner (North) Md. Hasan Mostafa Swapan said police rushed to the spot after receiving information about the public shooting at Forest Gate in Muradpur.
He said preliminary information indicates that Azad was taken to the hospital after being shot and was declared dead by doctors. He added that investigation is underway with utmost priority to identify the motive behind the murder and those involved.
