Youth shot in Narail clash dies

Hasan Sheikh (38), who was shot in a clash between two sides over establishing dominance in Kalabaria of Kalia upazila in Narail, has died at Khulna Medical College Hospital. At least 11 people from both sides were shot in the clash on Wednesday morning, September 23. Hasan Sheikh died while undergoing treatment around 4am on Thursday, September 24.

Naragati Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Hossain Ali said Hasan Sheikh, who was shot in the clash, was admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital. He died there while undergoing treatment in the early hours of Thursday. The deceased Hasan Sheikh was the son of Tara Mia Sheikh of Char Kandipara village in Kalabaria union of Kalia upazila.

The OC said Hasan Sheikh's body will be handed over to his family after the autopsy. Additional police have been deployed so that no untoward incident occurs in the area.

According to local and police sources, a clash began between supporters of Sohail Member and supporters of Abed Sheikh in the Kalabaria area around 7am on Wednesday over establishing dominance. At least 11 people from both sides were injured. They were first taken to Kalia Upazila Health Complex. Later, the seriously injured were sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
