Youth stabbed during Argentina-England WC match gathering in Ctg
A young man was stabbed by unidentified assailants during a crowd gathered to watch the Argentina-England FIFA World Cup semifinal in Chattogram.
The incident took place around 2:30am on Thursday (July 16) near the No. 2 Gate area under Panchlaish Police Station.
The victim, Md. Asadul Haque, 21, is the son of Yasin Ali of Shikdar Bari in Chhanua, Banshkhali. He currently resides in the Hamzarbagh area of Chattogram city.
Confirming the incident, Chattogram Medical College (CMCH) Hospital Police Outpost Assistant In-charge Sohel Rana said Asadul was attacked with a sharp weapon by a group of unidentified miscreants amid a large gathering watching the World Cup semifinal.
He was rescued by friends and taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital at 2:29am, where doctors admitted him to Ward No. 2 after providing initial treatment.
Hospital police said the attackers fled the scene immediately after the assault. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and law enforcement agencies have begun investigating the incident.
According to hospital authorities, Asadul is currently out of danger and undergoing treatment.
